Water Repellent & Bluestone

The owners of this historic home wanted to close up a non-functional cellar window.  Bluestone was cut and faced to match the existing foundation. Additionally, the front porch, which had been suffering from years of exfoliation, was treated with a water repellant chemical.  While the silicone in sealers trap moisture and cause irreparable damage to masonry, repellants allow moisture to escape but resist penetration, creating a "breathing wall," much like Tyvek vapor barrier.
