Derbyshire Style Roof
This relatively rare style of slate roof was originally misclassified as a Cotswold style. Designed by on of Connecticut’s first prominent female architects in the 1920’s, a couple similar roofs survive nearby in New Haven and Hartford. Olde Mohawk is working with the historic home owners to devise a strategy to restore severely deteriorated mortar beds and delaminated slate roof tiles. Already, the mortar has been analyzed, tested “exact-matched” by the US Heritage Group; salvaged slates have been located and procured. Extent and scope of work will be identified and work will commence.
