Catskill Exterior Restoration

Years of neglect and some poor remodeling choices warranted the complete removal and replacement of slate on both Mansards on this Second Empire Victorian in historic Catskill, New York. The original slate, which a prior homeowner had painted, were removed and replaced with a Vermont Mottled Purple/Green slate supplied by Notheast Slate of West Pawlet, Vermont (www.NortheastSlate.com 802-645-9400.)  Many layers of paint were stripped off of both chimneys before their tops were rebuilt and capped with bluestone. The built-in gutters required near-total replacement of their structural members and completely new metalwork and linings. All house and porch roofs were completely replaced, as were all flashing details with full-weight copper. Exterior painting in Spring of 2008 will complete the exterior.
