Canajoharie Project
Repair and restoration of garden walls, columns and chimney on estate grounds of the W.R. Lipe residence in Canajoharie, New York. Mr Lipe was a founder of the Beechnut company, based in Canajoharie. In 1905, he contracted for a masonry firm from NYC to build the elaborate, limestone gardens seen here. Three limestone piers were rebuilt, as well, in their original locations. Also, in the 'before and after' photos above, note the newly rebuilt corner of the wall alongside the terrace. The entire copper roof on the tea house was replaced with full-weight copper late in 2006. Restoration of the pond and waterfalls, seen below, is slated to start in 2007.
